HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The country's first ever "Bus Care Day," organised by tyre maker Bridgestone Viet Nam and auto service company Benh Vien O To (BVOT Group), begins on April 24 at the Eastern Bus Station in HCM City.

Over two days the event will aim to improve safety awareness among bus drivers and owners and help them check and maintain their vehicles.

The organisers said the incidence of bus accidents had increased dramatically in recent times, showing low awareness and lack of technical knowledge among drivers and owners.

Tran Hong Ninh, CEO of BVOT Group, said: "Bus drivers are responsible for the lives of many people. Equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skill and safety awareness means saving people's lives.

"We also will call society's attention to this means of transport to create a friendlier and more economical traffic environment."

During the two days, experienced technicians will offer advice on checking tyres and accumulators, cleaning and checking batteries, scanning for errors, and, especially, how to identify worn tyres and when to replace them.

The event will be oragnised in Ha Noi on June 24 and 25 at the Giap Bat Bus Station. — VNS
