VN institute recognised for optimum Internet use

HCM CITY (Biz Hub)— The Yola Institute, an educational service provider in Viet Nam, is the only one in the country that finds mention in a new report released by the Asia Internet Coalition (AIC).

AIC is an industry association formed by global Internet giants including eBay, Facebook, Google, Yahoo! and Salesforce.

The report "Trade in the Digital Age: helping small businesses think big," highlights the Yola Institute's use of the Internet to "strengthen classroom activities, connect with customers, manage human resources and prepare for its regional expansion," Yola said in a press release on Friday.

It said the report highlights the importance of Internet in "driving record increases in productivity, inspiring innovation, and creating rapidly emerging markets as well as transforming traditional commerce."

The AIC report mentions Yola as "an exemplary Vietnamese SME," that has become a "first-class educational services provider and leader in using online technologies to help Vietnamese students realise their study-abroad dreams."

Figurers from McKinsey's research quoted in AIC's the report showed that web technology has increased the revenue of Vietnamese SMEs by an average of 9.4 per cent and reduced their costs by 6.8 per cent.

Mike Orgill, Country Lead, Public Policy and Government Affairs, Asia Pacific of Google- one of AIC's key members, was quoted as saying that they hope "Yola's example inspires more Vietnamese to realise the full potential of the internet today." — VNS
