HA NOI (Biz Hub) — VinaPhone, the third largest Vietnamese mobile service provider, has become the only Vietnamese strategic partner of British telecom company Vodafone.

Both firms will begin their cooperation from early September, according to an agreement signed between the Conexus Mobile Alliance and Vodafone. The Vietnamese telecom service provider, along with eight other service providers in 10 countries and territories, is an active member of the alliance.

After becoming one of Vodafone's 52 strategic partners in the world, VinaPhone will take advantage of its markets, techniques and infrastructure to develop and give the best customer experience.

VinaPhone spokesman Doan Xuan Hop said that the cooperation will help improve the positions of the two companies in the Vietnamese market. "Customers will benefit the most because VinaPhone will continue to provide high-quality services, meeting users' demands in the near future. Besides, it will help promote the VinaPhone brand in other markets in the world," he said.

Vittorio Colao, CEO of Vodafone, said that cooperation with VinaPhone and other mobile service providers is one of the firm's main objectives. He said that Vodafone will bring international products and services to Viet Nam as per the demand of the market as they have done all over the world.

Vodafone, headquartered in London, is one of the 10 largest mobile network operators in the world, with the number of its subscribers reaching 382 million. In recent years, Vodafone has accomplished important activities in emerging markets such as investing in its joint-venture companies in Egypt, China, Kenya and South Africa. — VNS
