To prevent the usual network logjam during Lunar New Year festival, Viettel Network company has upgraded all its 14,000 base transceiver stations (BTS) and installed 190 new ones, all of which can provide 4G services.
During Tet (Lunar New Year) the company expects the 3G subscriber ratio to increase from 35 per cent to 50 per cent and data use to double, with subscribers live streaming and photo, video and data sharing among others.
In public areas where major events will take place, Viettel has set up 74 mobile BTSs with four times the capacity of normal BTSs and which can support 2G, 3G and 4G services.
With 4G, customers can enjoy speeds that are 7 – 10 times higher than 3G.
Viettel will officially roll out 4G services at the beginning of March. — VNS
