University signs training agreement with tech firm to churn out skilled workforce

The Agency for Southern Affairs, HCM City University of Science and Avantech Viet Nam Technology Co. Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for training in technology.

Accordingly, students from the university will work on technology platforms and practical projects at Advantech.

The university will work with the company to organise training in technology solutions, and then the trained students will intern as solution developers.

The company and its partners will organise a contest on artificial intelligence of things applications to test the students.

Pham Xuan Da, head of the agency, which is under the Ministry of Science and Technology, said it is a pilot programme and his agency hopes the model could be popularised to circulate knowledge and abet innovation, which in turn would boost economic growth.

The agency has been piloting new models to facilitate innovation in many fields, he said.

The university has been focusing on curriculums to train the workforce to prepare for the demands of modern technologies such as AI and data science.

The MoU was signed on Thursday. – VNS
