HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Vietnam's three-largest mobile networks Viettel, MobiFone and VinaPhone have provided mobile television services to watch matches of the World Cup 2014 live on their smartphones for their subscribers.
Viettel has given a promotion program from June 11 to July 31 for its MobiTV, with prices ranging from VND9,000 (US$0.4) to VND15,000 ($0.7) per month. Customers of the service will be offered two additional hours, and also a cut of 30 percent for rates when registering separate channels.
Previously, the corporation encouraged customers to watch television on mobile by charging zero dong for them to use Lite package to watch 25 channels online and receive video news of the World Cup within seven days.
Meanwhile, MobiFone supplies eight MobiTV service packages charged daily, weekly and monthly. Customers also can pay for only a package of sports and movie channels or purchase requested content.
Vinaphone subscribers registering VTVcab of MobileTV service may watch World Cup 2014 matches online on their smartphones, with a price of VND9,000 ($0.4). It comprises12 channels broadcast on the pay TV system of VTVCab and other providers, including Sports TV HD and Football TV HD showing World Cup and related programmes online.
Viet Nam Television (VTV) is the first organisation in Viet Nam to announce its World Cup 2014 broadcasting rights on television, radio, Internet and mobile telephones. VTVCab under VTV has cooperated with network providers to provide content on mobile telephones.
VTVlive JSC, a member company of VTVCab, said it will offer news reports of the World Cup on mobile devices via the VTV Play application. However, VTV Play only replays matches, World Cup breaking news, good goals and commentary. It provides free sports package to enable customers to watch sports channels. — VNS
