MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, one of Viet Nam’s three largest mobile network operators, posted pre-tax profit of nearly VND6.05 trillion (US$258.33 million) in 2018, fulfilling its target for the year and representing a rise of 7.5 per cent compared to 2017.

The information was released at a conference held by the group on Friday in Ha Noi to review its 2018 operations and set plans for the coming year.
The firm’s return on equity ratio was estimated at 25.7 per cent, completing 100 per cent of its target.
In 2018, the group contributed more than VND5.4 trillion to the State budget, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 per cent.
MobiFone increased the development of postpaid subscribers and sales of data according to each customer segment. The corporation also focused on optimising the quality of existing products and services, promoting the development of new products, applying IT solutions to increase labour productivity and management, reducing costs and increasing profits.
Simultaneously, MobiFone has deployed packages for new users, welcoming nearly 14 million new personal subscribers in 2018. It deployed eight new Data IP products (data packages for television, watching online football, music, viber and reading newspapers) and adjusted the capacity of six basic data packages to ensure competitiveness, helping data revenue reach eight per cent growth.
MobiFone also implemented the Government’s guidelines on the management of prepaid subscribers and prevention of spam messages.
MobiFone has also successfully transformed the code for more than 10 million subscribers from 11 digits to 10 and deployed digital network transfer services (MNP) as stipulated by the Ministry of Information and Communications. — VNS
