HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – Microsoft Viet Nam officially opened its first Vietnamese innovation centre in Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) last weekend with city officials and representatives from HCM City tech universities and colleges in attendance.

According to Microsoft Viet Nam director Vu Minh Tri, SHTP Microsoft Innovation Center (SMIC) was expected to be fully operational after the opening.

Tri said SMIC was responsible for inspiring and encouraging the development of new creative ideas and value-added solutions based on Microsoft technology platforms.

He added the centre would play an important role in establishing networks between technology partners, government organisations and supporting technology innovation projects by researching and identifying core technology trends and strategy.

Furthermore, the centre would help to expand Microsoft's professional certification community in the city and give specialised technical advice for implementing the city's technology projects and promoting the administrative reform process.

Up to now, Microsoft has more than 100 innovation centres worldwide. — VNS
