ABB commits to continue to support the sustainable development of Việt Nam’s industrial sector, marking its 30th anniversary of operation in Việt Nam.

Over the past 30 years, ABB Vietnam has participated in a series of key projects as the foundation for the development of Việt Nam, including the Dung Quất oil refinery; the Núi Pháo mining project, one of the largest producers of tungsten, fluoride and bismuth in the world; Cao Sơn Mine, one of the largest conveyor projects in Asia and many other key factories in the steel, paper and pulp, chemical, food and beverage industries; and leading hospitals of Việt Nam, said ABB Vietnam CEO Nguyễn Thị Vĩnh Phú.

As one of the fastest growing digital economies in Southeast Asia, Việt Nam is actively addressing challenges such as rapid urbanisation, digitalisation of production processes, energy transformation and climate change to realise a net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2050.

With a commitment to joining hands with Việt Nam, ABB has been actively promoting new trends such as renewable energy, electric vehicles (EVs) and digital data by closely working with partners and customers to enable customers to optimise competitiveness and reduce environmental impact in a sustainable way.

The support of the latest ABB expertise and technology has made Tân Thắng Cement become one of the most modern cement production plants in the region. ABB also supports Gia Hoét 1 and Tầm Bó, the region’s biggest floating solar complex, and safeguards power to CMC Creative Space, one of Vietnam’s largest data centres.

In addition, ABB has put Việt Nam on the world's automotive map as it has supplied thousands of robots to help VinFast produce world-class electric motorcycles and cars at its facility in Hải Phòng City. It has also helped many of Việt Nam’s iconic buildings, such as Viettel’s headquarters, become a symbol of innovation in the digital era and helped the largest telecommunications group in Việt Nam achieve the objective of a green and sustainable asset.

"As a leader in power and automation technology, ABB's solutions combine deep technical expertise technology with software that helps optimise the way electricity is produced, moved, distributed and operated," said Phú.

By connecting software to its electrification, robotics, automation and motion portfolios, ABB is pushing the boundaries of technology to drive performance to new levels. ABB believes that its new technology solutions will effectively support Việt Nam's sustainable development roadmap now and in the future.

The primary factors driving demand are the rising use of electricity in sectors such as data centres and electric cars; fast economic expansion and urbanization in emerging economies; the need to use natural resources more efficiently and clean energy. Digitalisation, innovation and smart manufacturing will be vital measures for Việt Nam to handle these challenges.

“Joining hands with local partners to establish a full value chain and drive win-win growth in the Vietnamese market over three decades, ABB will continue our ongoing commitment to becoming the partner of choice for Việt Nam's sustainable growth in the next decades,” said Đoàn Văn Hiển, President of Electrification, ABB Vietnam.

Entering in Việt Nam in 1993, ABB has been part of Việt Nam’s industrial growth story by accelerating growth and economic sustainability. Over the past three decades, ABB has had a strong presence in the country in the four business areas of Electrification, Industrial Automation, Motion, and Robotics and Discrete Automation.

At present, ABB now boasts five facilities nationwide for local and regional markets - its headquarters and Robotics & Automation Solutions Center in HCM City; a representative office in Hà Nội; an Electrification Distribution Solutions Factory along with a Robotics Technical and Service Centre in Bắc Ninh Province. — VNS
