ASEAN awards to honour outstanding tech officers

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The 10th ASEAN CIO/CSO Summits and Awards will honour 20 outstanding regional chief information officers and chief security officers on December 2 in HCM City.

As many as 12 Vietnamese people and five individuals have bagged the ASEAN CIO awards. The local awardees, comprising four from enterprises and eight from government agencies, include Bui Dinh Dung, IT Director of PVOil; Tran Nhat Minh, Deputy CEO of Vietnam International Bank (VIB); and Tran Gia Long, director of the Vinh Phuc provincial information and communications department; as well as Nguyen Nam Hai, director of the Academy of Cryptography Techniques.

The five international CIOs who have won the prize are Alan V Bornas, senior vice president of the technology management group at Land Bank of the Philippines; Benedict Tan Wee Bor, CIO of Singapore Health Services; and Catherine Goh, IT director of the National Kidney Foundation; as well as Kingkeo Vangkaneng, deputy general director of the Lao Telecommunication Company; and Rosina Howe –Teo, director of IT and chief innovation officer of Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The three ASEAN CSO awardees are Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia; Tran Thi Kim Phuong, editor-in-chief of An Toan Thong Tin (Information Security) Magazine; and Vo Anh Trung, deputy general director of the department of financial informatics and statistics of the finance ministry.

The event is being organised by the International Data Group (IDG) in collaboration with the ministries of national defence, information and communications and public security, besides science and technology, and the HCM City People's Committee.

The awards aim to honour outstanding individuals who are in charge of information management and security to ensure business continuity, minimise business risks and maximise business opportunities in the enterprises, and government and civic organisations. — VNS
