SEVT to earn $8 billion in revenue

THAI NGUYEN (Biz Hub) — Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) achieved an export turnover of nearly US$2 billion by June.

As reported in Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper, the complex manufactured 5.4 million smartphones and tablets in the three months between March 10, when it became operational, and June. The number is expected to reach six million by the end of July.

It is estimated that SEVT will gain $8 billion in revenue, and employ about 22,000 workers this year. Its revenue could reach $12 billion in 2015.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, this year's total export turnover of mobile phones and accessories reached approximately $12.3 billion in mid-July, 14.6 per cent higher year over year.

SEVT, a member company of the South Korean giant Samsung Corporation, started the construction of its factory in March 2013 with a registered capital of $2 billion. — VNS
