After Thailand's The Nation, Malaysia's The Star, the The Philippine Daily Inquire serves their readers with Isnap mobile service.

PHILLIPINES --The Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday become and latest leading regional newspaper to launch iSnap mobile service - following Malaysia's The Star and Nation Group's publications from Thailand.

The service is available via the upgraded Inquirer Mobile app. The Inquirer's iSnap version called INQSnap is an augmented-reality software that can "recognize" just 30 or so percent of the page with multimedia content for the links to work.

The Inquirer is the Philippines' best-selling broadsheet newspaper and a member of Asia News Network, along with Thailand's The Nation, Malaysia's The Star. Three other ANN members – Jakarta Post, Hong Kong-based China Daily Weekly Asia and Daily Eleven of Myanmar plan to roll out the Isnap service shortly.

"We are blanketing Asia with this state-of-the-art print to mobile service to fulfill the needs of readers in the age of

digital technology, said Pana Janviroj, executive director of ANN. Knorex Co Ltd, the technology partner from Singapore is also working to expand the service to ANN members from South Asia.

INQSnap allows the printed edition to "carry" other kinds of content, such as PDFs of court documents, albums of related photos, audio excerpts of key interviews, music in the news, detailed recipes, animated cartoons—as well as movie trailers, TV news reports and other forms of video.

Currently, it has a INQSnap package with a video playlist, consisting of the 15 "getting personal" interviews that Inquirer.net staff conducted with senatorial candidates.

The Inquirer started INQSnap with 10 editorial articles and 6 print ads yesterday. Yesterday, it organized a demo tour in two venues: the Strata 2000 building in Ortigas Center, in Pasig City, and GT Tower in Makati City. On Friday, the tour goes to the Gateway MRT junction (near Goldilocks) in Cubao, Quezon City, and to LKG Tower in Makati; on Saturday and Sunday, Inquirer marketing reps will help interested readers at the Central Plaza of Market! Market! in Taguig. And on May 14, the product demo team will set up shop at the Food Court of the Philippine Stock Exchange.--PDI
