THAI NGUYEN (Biz Hub) — Intel Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to continue universalizing information technology and the Internet for the Vietnamese people.

The signing of the agreement was held on the sidelines of the first "Computers for Life" festival, which was organised on March 21 and 22 in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.

Intel Vietnam's marketing director Pham An Duong said that the corporation would provide 100,000 computers for people with Internet access and education software at special prices. He added that Intel would also organize a series of activities to allow the people living in 20 remote areas to use computers, and open computer labs and mobile classrooms in schools in these poor areas.

Intel will also cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Training to hold some experimental classes about applying IT solutions to improve teaching and studying in some cities and provinces. This year, the firm will equip more classrooms with tablets and computers along with software to support teaching in schools.

Intel will organize training courses for teachers in rural areas to improve their ability to use computers and the Internet.

In 2013, Intel implemented a program to spread IT in the community, improve the application of IT in people's lives and help them own education software, Internet services and their first computers at special prices. — VNS
