Telephone exports soar in first seven months

HA NOI — Viet Nam's exports of electronics, computers and components saw a sharp year-on-year increase of 57.8 per cent, hitting US$8.7 billion in the first seven months of this year. 

Telephones and components, worth $17.1 billion, were exported in the first seven months, a 28.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. 

The production index of mobile phones and televisions increased sharply, compared to 2014, up 56.9 per cent and 40.4 per cent respectively, the General Statistics Office of Viet Nam said. 

The import turnover of electronics, computers and components reached $13.1 billion, a 34.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

Telephones and components worth $6.1 billion were imported, up 35 per cent. 

The largest importers of telephones and components manufactured in Viet Nam are China and South Korea, the General Department of Customs said. 

The main export markets are the European Union, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. — VNS
