RIMOWA Celebrates Its Tokyo Flagship With A Star-Studded Evening In Ginza

Following the opening of its doors in December, grand opening celebrations for the first flagship RIMOWA store in Japan were underway at the start of this weekend, on February 1. RIMOWA CEO Alexandre Arnault invited guests to a cocktail event in the 544 m² store at the popular luxury shopping district Ginza 7-Chome. Those attending included Mr. Takashi Murakami, Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara, Ms. Emi Suzuki, Mr. Ryo Ryusei, Mr. Yu Shirota, Ms. Rina Fukushi, Ms. Makiko Takizwa, Ms. Saila Kunikida, as well as AMBUSH’s YOON and VERBAL, and many more culture icons in Japan.

During the event, guests enjoyed the opportunity to meet, greet, and exchange views on the lifestyle of travel, as well as the dynamic Japanese calligraphic live-painting done by MAMI, whose work is a modern twist on traditional Japanese calligraphy combining hip hop and graffiti cultures with the ancient linguistic art.

To mark the launch of first flagship RIMOWA store in Japan, the grand opening showcased a new luggage handle and luggage tag created exclusively for the RIMOWA Ginza 7 store in collaboration with contemporary Japanese label AMBUSHÒ, founded by VERBAL and YOON. Made of fluorescent orange varnished leather in Italy, the new AMBUSHÒ travel accessories were part of RIMOWA’s personalization range, which include customizable handles for the RIMOWA Classic Collection, colored wheels, and luggage tags. RIMOWA Ginza 7-Chome store is proud to be one of the few stores in the world where personalization items are available.
