Quang Ninh Province has recently started the construction of a social housing project to build 1,000 apartments at Ngan Hang Hill in Ha Long City.
With an initial outlay of VND1.3 trillion, the project comprises of two 19-storey and one 17-storey buildings. It covers 25,900sq.m of land, of which 7,400sq.m for the buildings, 5,185sq.m for green space and more than 13,300sq.m for other facilities.
It is financed by a joint-venture of Global Finance Investment Consultancy JSC and Hanoi Housing Development and Investment JSC No. 6 and expected to come into operation in Q1/2026.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Quang Ninh Province's People's Committee Nguyen Tuong Van underlined the project as a key provincial one that is located in a highly-populated region with developed infrastructure.
The project, he said, is expected to accommodate 3,880 workers and will act as an incentive for more people to move into the province to seek jobs.
He called on the Ministry of Construction to support Quang Ninh by removing relevant legal obstacles, recommending highly-competent investors to the province and allocating more financial resources for social housing development.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh underscored the groundbreaking ceremony as an important event that marks the 59th founding anniversary of Quang Ninh and helps to meet the accommodation need of low-income locals
He also said the province has put social housing high on its agenda, demonstrated by the use of 20 per cent of lands supposed to be used for commercial housing to build social housing and dormitories for workers.
The deputy minister and the chairman urged the joint-venture to keep a close watch on construction works to move the project at a good pace and, at the same time, keep it up to standards.
They also called on local authorities to create favourable conditions for the project and remove obstacles on its way to ensure the project progress without hindrance.
Under the scheme named 'At least one million apartments for low-income people and workers in industrial zones between 2021 and 2030', Quang Ninh is slated to build 11,000 apartments from 2022 to 2025 and 13,000 from 2025 to 2030.
The province has been building three social housing projects with a total 2,327 apartments since 2020, of which 612 have been completed so far. — VNS
