HA NOI (VNS) — Most National Assembly delegations around the country want the Land Law draft to clarify the role of the State as a landowner.

During an online conference in Ha Noi yesterday, many National Assembly deputies said that land planning at the national level should be conducted in a way that is transparent and open to public feedback.

At the district level, they said, land planning should be implemented via conferences and online portals in accordance with Government regulations.

The deputies recommended leaving intact the provision stipulating that land planning should be done at three levels (national, district and commune).

However, they suggested adding a new provision requiring that land planning at the commune level be incorporated into land planning at the district level to bridge the gap across different levels of planning.

In term of land revocation and resettlement, the deputies said the law should be narrowed down to particular cases that were in the national interest or public interest and approved by the National Assembly and the Prime Minister, as well as important socio-economic development projects that were approved by the provincial People's Council.

Chairman of the Economic Committee Nguyen Van Giau said the Land Law would significantly impact the political and socio-economic development of the country, so the current revisions should address the shortcomings in the current law.

He added that feedback from the deputies was important for the ministry to continue to improve the law before submitting it to the National Assembly's upcoming meeting in May.
