DA NANG (Biz Hub) —Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recently allowed Da Nang to reclaim more than 6,500ha of agriculture land in the central city for non-agriculture purposes.

It was included in the resolution issued by the Government on land use planning for the city by 2020. Accordingly, by 2020 agriculture land will be reduced to nearly 70,000 ha while land for urban use will increase to more than 25,000 ha.

The PM also asked the Da Nang People's Committee to supervise the land use plan for local sectors and organisations, in accordance with the master plan, to prevent and handle violations which leave leased land in the city unused.

Da Nang, located in the centre of Viet Nam, spans 128,342ha and is the north-south transport axis and gateway to access famous tourism sites in Viet Nam such as Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hue Citadel, Hoi An Ancient Town, and My Son Cham Sanctuary and also a pivotal part of the East-West Economic Corridor, the gateway to the Pacific Ocean of Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and central Viet Nam. — VNS
