HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a proposal by the telecommunication group Viettel to establish a Viettel America Company in the United States.

Based in Miami, Florida, the company will have total investment capital of more than US$33 million. Viettel will contribute $100,000 to charter capital and lend the company the rest.

Apart from telecommunication services, the company hopes to attract Vietnamese living in the US to work for Viettel in developing new products, a news source from Viettel told Viet Nam News today.

Under the PM's direction, the Ministry of Defence will regularly supervise and check the use of State funds at the Viettel America company.

Viettel has invested in many developing countries, including Laos, Cambodia, Mozambique and Haiti. The group is also heading to Myanmar and Russia. — VNS
