DA NANG (Biz Hub) — The Song Thu Shipyard Corporation launched a dredger, the TSHD2000, for Russia's Rosmorport company on November 9.

The ship, which took a year to build, is the first the firm has built for a Russian client.

The 80.35m-long and 16.20m-wide ship will be part of a fleet operating in the port of Arkhagelsk in northern Russia.

It has a capacity of 2,800 GT (gross tonnage).

Song Thu, in co-operation with the Damen Group from the Netherlands, has built four patrol ships for export to Venezuela since last year.

The corporation, which is a major shipbuilder in Viet Nam, has exported 40 vessels, including fast-crew supply ships, rescue ships, salvage tugs and drive tugs, besides patrol boats to the Middle East, South America, Europe and the domestic market, with an annual export volume of US$55 million.

The Da Nang-based company also constructed an oil tanker for an Australian client under a contract last year. — VNS
