Huyen wins the post of directorate for roads

HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Nguyen Van Huyen beat three high-ranking officials to take charge as the directorate for roads of Viet Nam, announced the Ministry of Transport on April 28.

Huyen, who worked as the ministry's chief inspector, cleared a formal exam for the position with a total score of 169.33 points. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, the deputy director general of the directorate for roads, took the second place with 163.14 points, followed by Pham Hong Son, the general director of the Project Management Unit 2 with 161.40 points, and Pham Huu Son, the general director of the Transportation Design Consultancy Corporation with 160.07 points.

Huyen, who was born in 1962 in the northern province of Nam Dinh, took charge as the chief inspector of the Ministry of Transport from March 2013. During his 30 years of working in the industry, he has held high positions in corporations and companies under the ministry. He is expected to hold the new position from June 1. The person holding the post of directorate for roads of Viet Nam is in charge of all issues related to road traffic nationwide.

The Ministry of Transport held a two-part exam on April 25 and 26 to seek a new directorate for roads. Four candidates penned down their 10-year action plan for developing Vietnamese roads and presented their ideas and answered questions posed by the jury.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong informed the local press that the jury gave Huyen the highest marks for his action plan. He noted that in order to monitor the plan of the directorate, the ministry will conduct an assessment based on the level of its completion and ask to pay greater attention to it every year. - VNS
