French firm to establish factory in Binh Duong

BINH DUONG (Biz Hub) ─ France's Olmix Group plans to build an agricultural product factory in the southern province of Binh Duong, with the aim of expanding its markets in Asia.

Company general director Herve Balusson met the provincial People's Committee's standing vice chairman Tran Van Nam on Monday to study the investment conditions for establishing the first plant in the region.

According to the Voice of Viet Nam (VOV), the facility will have an investment capital of five million euros, or US$6.74 million, and will be located in the Song Than 2 Industrial Park. It is expected to produce between 5,000 and 10,000 tonnes of products per year.

The company will also develop a research centre to transfer European technology for the manufacture of environmentally friendly products here, said Herve.

Nam said the province appreciates high-tech and biotech investments projects. He asked the firm to present its factory design and waste treatment plans to the local authorities for assessment, while promising favourable conditions for project implementation.

Olmix is among the leading suppliers of agricultural products and biotechnology in France, and operates in 65 countries, according to the committee.

The Government promotes the application of science and advanced technology in agricultural production. ─ VNS
