EU reels in Vietnamese tuna exports

HA NOI (Biz Hub)— Vietnamese tuna products shipped to the European market reported respectable growth of 31 per cent to reach US$106 million over the past nine months, while exports to other major markets declined.

 

According to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the total export value of Viet Nam's fresh/frozen tuna and tuna fillet products reached almost $54 million, showing slight growth of 0.24 per cent year-on-year.

The top five importers of Vietnamese tuna in the EU reported growth. These were Germany (up 61.8 percent), Italy (4.8 per cent), Spain (17.8 per cent), the Netherlands (85.9 per cent) and the UK (2.37 per cent).

Portugal and Poland, listed in the top 10 EU importers of Vietnamese tuna, recorded tremendous growth of 243.5 per cent and 491.8 per cent, respectively.—VNS
