HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam Customs' General Department has permitted Australian Bank ANZ's Viet Nam branch to collect bill payments via the customs' electronic payment gateway from November 1.

The department's document No 12932 GDC/TXNK, issued on October 24, 2014, said that after reviewing the bank's pilot electronic tax collection in HCM City and the Binh Duong Province, it will co-operate with the bank in collecting customs' bill payments electronically all over the country (excluding the tax guarantee on import and export goods).

The General Department of Viet Nam Customs has asked all its branches in the country to coordinate with the bank.

According to ANZ, it is the first and only foreign bank in Viet Nam to offer this advanced e-Customs Tax (e-Tax) solution to its customers. It allows the bank to update a customer's tax payment status online, significantly reducing the time and cost involved, as a result of the direct connectivity between ANZ and the Customs departments. — VNS
