Binh Duong attracts foreign investments worth $1.4bn

BINH DUONG (Biz Hub) ─ This southern province has lured 212 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects worth more than US$1.4 billion in the first nine months of 2014, said the local planning and investment department.

Department officials said the amount of capital represented a 26-per cent year-on-year increase and was 40 per cent higher than the quota the province had set for 2014.

With this result, Binh Duong now ranks third nationwide in attracting FDI in nine months, after the northern province of Bac Ninh and HCM City.

Binh Duong has so far attracted 2,344 FDI projects worth $20.2 billion and ranks fourth among localities with FDI capital exceeding $20 billion.

HCM City has lured the most capital with $35.9 billion, followed by Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with $26.6 billion and Ha Noi with 23.3 billion. — VNS
