HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Seven Vietnamese seafood processing enterprises are showcasing their products to attract prospective Australian partners at the Fine Food Australia 2014 exhibition.

The event, Australia's largest annual food industry trade exposition, opened at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre last Monday and runs until September 18.

Ca Mau Seafood Processing and Service Jointstock Corporation (CASES) and Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (CAMIMEX) are among the enterprises from the southern province of Ca Mau at the exhibition.

CASES Sale Manager Lu Van Phe said his company was taking part in the exhibition for the fifth time to expand its sales network in this market.

CAMIMEX Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Nam said the enterprise had prepared for a successful exhibition of its products and has proven to be capable of processing and exporting more than 10,000 tonnes of products worth about US$100 million every year.

In 2013, Australia imported seafood products from Viet Nam worth $1.46 billion, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Viet Nam is the third largest exporter of seafood products to Australia, followed by New Zealand and China. However, Viet Nam accounts for only 11 per cent of the Australian seafood market. — VNS
