VN stocks unmoved amid low liquidity

Vietnamese shares ended almost flat on Wednesday morning with low trading liquidity.

The benchmark VN Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange was down 0.06 per cent to close at 922.57 points.

The southern market index had gained a total of 0.56 per cent in the previous two trading days.

The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange was unchanged at 103.19 points. It had dropped total 1.3 per cent since last Friday.

More than 95.5 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth VND1.8 trillion (US$80 million).

Declining stocks outnumbered gainers by 227 to 150 while 106 others were unchanged.

Large-cap stocks had poor performances, pulling the blue-chip VN30 Index down 0.11 per cent to 894.30 points.

In the VN30 basket, 19 of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation declined while only eight increased.

Among decliners were VPBank (VPB), PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation (DPM), logistics firm Gemadept (GMD) and FLC Faros Construction Corp (ROS).
