VN stocks rebound after short fall


Vietnamese shares rebounded this morning on blue chips' recovery, after a fall on Monday.

HA NOI (Bizhub) — Vietnamese shares rebounded this morning on blue chips' recovery, after a fall on Monday.

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange went up 0.5 per cent to close at 546.33 points, and the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange leaped 0.4 per cent to end at 77.05 points.

Large-cap stocks made gains, pulling up the markets, with dairy firm Vinamilk (VNM) gaining 0.8 per cent, and property developer Vingroup (VIC) rising 0.9 per cent.

Energy stocks recovered on higher global crude prices. American benchmark crude West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped 4.6 per cent to trade at $30.78 a barrel.

Among energy firms, PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (GAS) and PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Service Corporation (PVD) moved up 1.8 per cent each.

Both local bourses traded more than 77 million shares, worth VND1.05 trillion ($47 million). — VNS
