Viet Nam’s stock benchmark indicator VN Index ended positively Tuesday morning, boosted by shares of a few large-cap companies and brokerages.
The key stock index on the HCM Stock Exchange gained 0.17 per cent to close at 752.36 points. It increased by a similar rate on Monday.
More than 107 million shares were exchanged on the southern bourse in the morning, worth VND2.49 trillion (US$110.8 million).
FLC Faros Construction (ROS) remained the major force that drove the southern market up Tuesday morning, hitting its daily trading limit of 6.9 per cent and extending its good form for a second session.
The brokerage sector was driven by the two biggest securities firms, which are Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI) and HCM City Securities Corp (HCM). Their shares rose 1.1 per cent and 1.4 per cent, respectively.
The southern market also received support from some large-cap stocks such as PetroVietnam Gas (GAS), BIDV (BID), property developer Vingroup (VIC) and brewer Sabeco (SAB).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index fell 0.27 per cent to end at 96.58 points. It lost 0.5 per cent in the previous session.
Nearly 39 million shares were exchanged on the northern bourse, worth VND315 billion.
