The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange bounced back on Friday morning after a slight fall a day earlier, as financial shares recovered.
The VN Index inched up 0.2 per cent touch 751.6 points.
The major market boosters, especially financial stocks, recovered.
The six listed banks on the southern bourse gained between 0.3 per cent and 5.1 per cent. Big securities firms such as Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) and HCM Securities Corp (HCM) rose 1.5 per cent and 1.9 per cent, respectively.
Large-cap stocks such as Vinamilk (VNM), Sabeco (SAB), Petrolimex (PLX), VinGroup (VIC), Masan Group (MSN) and FPT Corp (FPT) also gained, contributing to the rebound.
Money also flowed into real estate shares such as FLC Group (FLC), Hoang Quan Consulting and Trading Real Estate Service (HQC), FLC Faros Construction (ROS) and Sacomreal (SCR), which were among the most heavily traded on Friday morning.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index also edged up 0.7 per cent to 97.9 points.
A total of 141 million shares worth a combined VND2.6 trillion (US$113.7 million) were traded in the two markets.
