Vietnamese stocks rally as Hong Kong shares sink

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Vietnamese share prices rallied while Hong Kong share prices continued their downward spiral on Wednesday.

The VN-Index inched up by 1.88 points to close at 628.8 on the HCM City Stock Exchange while the HNX-Index gained 1.46 points to end at 87.86 on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange.

The Hong Kong Hang Seng Index slumped by 485.09 points to close at 24,705.36 while the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index lost by 8.22 points to finish at 2,318.31.

In Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Tokyo Price Index added 7.17 points to end at 1,306.79, and the Nikkei 225 finished 39.63 points higher at 15,788.78.

Singapore's Straits Times Index turned around, sliding by 3.16 points to close at 3,339.80. — VNS
