HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Stock markets in Ha Noi and HCM City ended higher on Monday, with the HNX Index gaining 0.92 points to 63.53 and the VN Index rising by 12.17 points to 512.41.
Viet Nam's stock markets bucked the regional trend. Singapore shares ended lower with the Straits Times Index slipping 1.87 points to 3,391.3. Some 2.57 billion shares, valued at S$1.45 billion were traded. Gainers outnumbered losers 281 to 156.
While in Tokyo, the Nikkei ended down 469.80 points at 14,142.65 after trading as low as 14,027.42. The broader Topix index dropped 3.4 per cent to 1,154.07.
Chinese shares closed mixed on Monday, as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.2 percent, or 4.54 points, to end at 2,293.08. The Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.48 percent, or 44.23 points, to 9,260.63. — The Straits Times/China Daily/ANN/VNS
