Viet Nam loses, others gain

Stock indexes end lower in Viet Nam on May 8.— Photo vov.vn

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — While Vietnamese market witnessed a huge loss on May 8, other markets ended up higher.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 Index added 130.33 points to finish at 14,163.78 and also the Topix Index gained 8.00 points to finish at 1,160.01.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index edged up 90.86 points to end the day at

21,837.12. In China, the Shanghai Composite Index gained 5.19 points to finish at 2,015.27.

In Singapore, the Straits Times Index also increased 7.75 points to end at 3,244.2 .

On the other hand, both bourses in Viet Nam suffered losses. The VN Index lost up to nearly 6 per cent or 32.88 points to close at 527.09 in HCM City, and the HNX Index declined 6.4 per cent or 4.9 points to end at 76.56 in the capital city. — VNS
