Viet Nam, China buck Asian share price decline

HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Share market prices across most of the Asia-Pacific region fell on Thursday except for Viet Nam and mainland China.

Vietnamese stock market indices gained slightly, with the VN-Index adding 3.39 points to close at 612.66 on the HCM City Stock Exchange and the HNX-Index rising by 0.53 point to finish at 90.26.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index edged up by 6.16 points to finish at 2,363.87. In contrast, the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong, the site of pro-democracy protests, declined by 296.23 points to close at 22,932.98.

In Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange Price Index slumped by 38.06 points to close at 1,280.15, and the Nikkei 225 dropped by 420.26 points to end at 15,661.99. In Singapore, the Straits Times Index fell by 35.38 points to end at 3,288.71. -- VNS
