Viet Nam bucks the trend to gain

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — While the major indexes in Asia declined, both bourses in Viet Nam ended higher on May 19.

The Nikkei 225 lost 90.15 points to end at 14,006.44 in Tokyo, where the Topix Index also declined 9.00 points to end at 1,150.07.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 8.41 points to end the day at 22,704.50 in Hong Kong, while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 21.32 points to end at 2,026.50 in mainland China. The Straits Times Index edged down 1.34 points to 3,261.2 in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the VN Index added 3.55 points to end at 533.04 in HCM City, and the HNX Index also gained 0.33 points to end at 72.64 in the capital city.— VNS
