Viet Nam bucks the trend to end higher

HA NOI (Biz Hub) —While most Asian investors experienced losses, Vietnamese shares closed up on Wednesday with the HNX Index gaining 0.47 points to end at 62.13 in the capital city and the VN Index adding 3.48 points to end at 504.05 in HCM City.

Shares fell badly in Hong Kong, where the Hang Seng Index (HSI) lost 316.04 points to close at 22,999.95. The benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) declined 27.55 points to 2,183.11.

Tokyo investors also faced losses when the Nikkei 225 lost 287.20 points to end at 14,426.05 and the Topix Index (TPX) declined 18.46 points to finish at 1,195.98.

The Straits Times Index (STI) fell 5.41 points to finish at  3,204.8.— VNS
