TOKYO--Tokyo stocks closed 1.23 per cent higher Wednesday, clawing back after the Nikkei suffered its biggest one-day drop since June, as gains on Wall Street gave investors a positive lead.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 index, which lost 4.18 per cent on Tuesday, added 171.91 points to 14,180.38, while the Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 2.05 per cent, or 23.37 points, to 1,162.64. - AFP
