On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained 0.3 per cent to close at 499.13 points with the number of advancers almost doubling the number of decliners.
The VN30, tracking the southern city's 30 largest stocks, also added 0.6 per cent to 555.33 points.
While only seven codes slightly decreased, 19 others rebounded to help indices add value.
The total trading volume remained at a positive level, reaching VND546.8 billion (US$25.7 million) on a volume of 39.5 million shares.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index ended at 61.01 points, a 0.12 per cent rise compared to last Friday.
Gainers overwhelmed losers 73-47.
Around 14 million shares worth VND129 billion ($6 million) were exchanged.
The HNX30, composed of the bourse's top shares, added 0.4 per cent to 113.71 points.—VNS
