Shares tumble

HA NOI ― Shares tumbled in HCM City for the fifth successive session and also began to decline in Ha Noi.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index retreated 0.4 per cent to 512.85 points.

Trading value dropped to VND594.85 billion (US$28.3 million) as 38.45 million shares changed hands.

The VN30 tracking the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity lost 0.6 per cent to 568.22 points despite the gains of some shares.

The largest falls of property developer Vingroup (VIC), food processor Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT) and PetroVietnam Drilling Services (PVD) were calculated at 2.2-3.8 per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index edged down 0.34 per cent to 65.42 points.

Market value and volume totalled VND192.5 billion ($9.1 million) and 24 million shares, respectively.

The HNX30, which represents the northern bourse's top 30 stocks, slid 0.67 per cent to reach 125.78 points. ― VNS
