Shares tumble on both exchanges

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares suddenly fell this morning after making strong gains yesterday.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index dropped 0.48 per cent to end at 598.69 points. The VN30 Index, tracking the bourse's 30 leading stocks, slid 0.44 per cent to close at 635.07 points.

Only six of the 30 blue chips succeeded in retaining their gains. Meanwhile, 16 stocks tumbled.

The overall trading value and volume increased substantially, reaching VND1.55 trillion (US$73.1 million) and 80 million shares respectively.

Nearly 16.4 million shares of the financial conglomerate Ocean Group (OGC) were traded. It closed the morning session at VND11,400 per share, losing five per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 0.63 per cent, reaching 87.94 points. As 31.3 million shares changed hands, the trading value fetched VND441.2 billion ($20.8 million).

The HNX30 Index, which represents the top 30 blue chips on the northern bourse, shed 0.76 per cent to stand at 175.92 points. — VNS
