Shares slide on negative investor sentiment

HA NOI (VNS) — National stock indices tumbled as demand was low and investors remained cautious.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index slid 0.05 per cent to 498.82 points.

Trading value reached only 37 per cent of yesterday morning's level, totalling just VND350.4 billion (US$16.5 million) on a volume of 22.7 million shares.

The VN30, composed of the southern exchange's 30 leading shares by capitalisation and liquidity, also lost 0.04 per cent to 556.99 points.

Trading on these blue chips was sluggish, with most of them closing unchanged. Nine stocks retreated, while only five managed to advance.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index ended at 61.43 points, off 0.25 per cent.

As only 8.5 million shares changed hands, the value of transactions declined 17.8 per cent over yesterday morning to only around VND92.5 billion ($4.3 million).

The HNX30, tracking the 30 largest stocks on the bourse, shed 0.05 per cent to 115.04 points. — VNS
