Shares slide in morning trading

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares tumbled this morning on both the national stock exchanges, following a week of decline.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost 1.29 points or as much as 0.24 per cent to end at 528.2 points.

However, the VN30-Index, comprising the southern bourse's largest stocks by capitalisation and liquidity, edged up 0.45 per cent to close at 584.53 points.

Despite the losers outnumbering the gainers by 15 to 11, the gain was mainly registered by the Hoa Sen Group (HSG) which added VND3,000, or $0.14, to its ceiling price of VND46,700, or $2.2, a share.

More than 59.7 million shares were traded on the southern bourse this morning, worth VND851.3 billion, or $40.5 million.

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Exchange dropped 0.57 per cent to end this morning at 71.9 points, while the HNXFF-Index lost 0.59 per cent to finish at 72.35 points.

Tracking the top stocks, the HNX30-Index slid by 0.3 per cent to end at 140.42 points.

With more than 27.4 million shares changing hands, the trading value reached nearly VND229 billion, or $10.9 million. — VNS
