Shares sink deeply in the red

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — National stocks plunged heavily this morning, with the VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange losing 3.2 per cent to 474.06 points. Only 20 of more than 300 stocks closed in the green.

All 30 blue chips tracked by the VN30 tumbled, one third by more than 3 per cent. The VN30 declined 3.2 per cent to 531.03 points.

Sell-offs and profit-taking drove the total value traded to nearly VND925 billion (US$44 million) on a volume of 56.7 million.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 2.5 per cent to 61.96 points with only 6 per cent of shares advancing.

The traded value rose to VND285.5 billion ($13.5 million) on a volume of almost 37.4 million shares.

Among the top 30 shares leading by capitalisation and liquidity, IDJ Financial (IDJ) was the most positive performer, finishing the session unchanged. All others fell in value.

The HNX30 lost over 3 per cent to 115.43 points. - VNS
