HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares continued to rise this morning, but the momentum has slowed down.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index inched up 0.31 per cent to end at 616.32 points. Meanwhile, the VN30 Index, tracking the bourse's 30 leading stocks, slid 0.17 per cent to close at 661.30 points as the losers outnumbered the gainers by 14 to 9.

The overall trading value and volume reached VND1.8 trillion (US$84.9 million) and 118.8 million shares respectively.

The movement of the benchmark VN-Index was mainly affected by PetroVietnam Gas (GAS), which closed the morning session up 1.9 per cent. Although it lost value during the opening minutes, GAS successfully lifted the index.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index added 0.27 per cent, reaching 91.17 points. The trading value climbed about 15 per cent compared with yesterday morning's level, to reach VND611 billion ($28.8 million) with 46 million shares changing hands.

The HNX30 Index, comprising the top 30 blue chips, advanced just 0.13 per cent to finish at 187.15 points. — VNS
