Shares rise on financial-banking stocks

HÀ NỘI — Shares gained on Monday morning on the rise of financial banking stocks.

The benchmark VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) was up 0.36 per cent to close at 1,025.20 points.

The index gained 1.12 per cent last week.

More than 261.5 million shares were traded on the southern exchange on Tuesday morning, worth VNĐ4.7 trillion (US$202.6 million).

Market breadth was positive with 191 decliners and 219 gainers.

The VN30 Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.29 per cent to end Monday morning at 987.16 points.

In the VN-30 basket, 15 stocks gainers while eight decreased.

Financial-banking stocks gained ground and pushed the market up, including Bank for Investment and Development (BID), Vietinbank (CTG), HDBank (HDB), Techcombank (TCB) and Vietcombank (VCB).

On the Hà Nội Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 0.02 per cent to close Monday morning at 152.51 points.

The northern index had gained 2.91 per cent last week.

Nearly 34.8 million shares were traded on the exchange, worth 442 trillion. — VNS
