Shares rise on banking, steel stocks

Vietnamese continues its uptrend on Thursday morning thanks to the growth of banking and steel stocks.

The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) rose 0.93 per cent to close the morning trade at 1,289.01 points.

The market's breadth was positive with 193 stocks increasing while 145 stocks declined.

Over VNĐ9 trillion was poured into the southern market, equivalent to a trading volume of more than 285.4 million shares.

The VN30-Index, which tracks 30 biggest stocks on the southern bourse, witnessed an increase of 1.14 per cent to 1,423.58 points. Of the VN30 basket, 25 stocks climbed while 4 stocks slid.

Banking and steel stocks attracted cash flow with many gainers such as Steel giant Hòa Phát Group (HPG), Pomina Steel (POM), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Nam Kim Group (NKG), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Vietinbank (CTG), Military Bank (MBB), Sacombank (STB), VPBank (VPB) and Techcombank (TCB).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index also rose 0.84 per cent to 308.81 points. VNS
