Shares rebound slightly, but trading stays tepid

HA NOI (Biz Hub)— Shares posted slight increases this morning on both exchanges despite sluggish trading on low volumes and values.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed the morning 0.15 per cent higher at 498.46 points, but the VN30 tracking the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity was down 0.19 per cent at 549.29 points.

Most of blue chips fell, but the market was again sustained by familar heavyweight stocks such as Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), PV Gas (GAS), Ocean Group (OGC) and PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD), which increased from 0.5-1.5 per cent.

However, trading remained tepid with only 16.2 million shares worth nearly VND297 billion (US$14.1 million) changing hands this morning.

Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp (ITA) is temporarily leading the market with nearly 1.4 million shares exchanged at VND5,500 a share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also inched up just 0.06 per cent at 61.26 points, but the market value continued to be low at VND159.5 billion ($7.6 million).

Kim Long Securities (KLS) was the most active code this morning with 1.74 million shares changing hands at VND8,400 each.
