The VN-Index regained 0.63 per cent to close Wednesday’s morning trade at 957.41 points as many large-cap stocks recovered.
Twenty-one of the top 30 largest shares by market value and liquidity on the HCM Stock Exchange gained value and only nine declined.
Gainers expanded to many sectors, ranging from oil and gas, banking and finance to real estate, steel manufacturing, rubber and aviation.
Biggest winners included FLC Faros Construction (ROS), which hit the daily limit rise of seven per cent for the third day in a row; PVD Drilling and Well Services (PVD), up 5.8 per cent; PV Gas (GAS), up 4.5 per cent; and large banks such as Vietcombank (VCB), Vietinbank (CTG), BIDV (BID) and VPBank (VPB), up 1.7-2.3 per cent.
On the defensive side, brewer Sabeco (SAB) dropped by a maximum seven per cent for the second day, while VinGroup (VIC) and Mobile World Group (MWG) decreased by less than one per cent.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also edged up 0.78 per cent to 114.25 points.
A total of 170.3 million shares worth a combined VND3.7 trillion (US$162.8 million) were traded on the two markets by the end of morning trade.
