HA NOI – Shares opened higher on the HCM City Exchange and lower on the Hà Nội Exchange this morning.
The VN-Index rose 6.53 points, or 1.1 per cent, to end at 599.57 points.
With nearly 68 million shares changing hands, the total trading value reached VND1.4 trillion, or US$66.7 million.
Two-thirds of the southern bourse's 30 largest shares by capitalisation and liquidity posted gains this morning, helping the VN30-Index to add 0.71 per cent to end at 672.07 points.
The big gainers included names such as Vinamilk, PetroVietnam Drilling, Bao Viet Holding and the Hoa Phat Group.
Five blue chips lost values, including the banks Vietinbank and Sacombank.
On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index closed 0.14 per cent lower to end at 86.64 points, while the HNXFF-Index, tracking stocks with a minimum free floating rate of 5 per cent, lost 0.05 points, or 0.06 per cent, to close at 87.95 points.
However, the HNX30-Index, comprising the bourse's top stocks, closed at 179.6 points, a rise of 0.49 per cent.
Nearly 40 million shares with the total value of VND425 billion, or $20.2 million, were traded. -- VNS
