Shares were mixed at closing on Monday morning – higher on the HCM City Exchange but lower on the northern bourse.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index edged up 0.08 per cent to close at 992.12 points. The southern market had risen 2.3 per cent last week after five consecutive gaining sessions.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index declined 0.24 per cent to stand at 113.10 points. It had expanded last week’s rally to 1.5 per cent.
A total of 118.5 million shares worth a combined VND2.3 trillion (US$100.2 million) were exchanged during the session.
Oil and gas stocks were supporters of the market.
Major oil and gas companies including PV Gas (GAS), PetroVietnam Drilling and Wells Service (PVD) and PetroVietnam Coating (PVB) maintained the uptrend.
The large-cap VN30 Index dropped 0.19 per cent to stand at 958.51 points.
Some blue chips were under selling pressure and lost, including insurer Bảo Việt Holdings (BVH), Masan Group (MSN), Military Bank (MBB), food producer Kido Group (KDC), Mobile retailer Mobile World Group (MWG), Vietcombank (VCB) and budget carrier Vietjet (VJC).
